Scott Penegar

Charleston, South Carolina

Scott received his art degree from Appalachian University, studied marine biology at the College of Charleston, and apprenticed under renowned sculptor Jan D’Esopo in San Juan, Puerto Rico.  He finds inspiration for his marine wildlife sculpture during his time on the ocean.  He’s worked as a commercial fisherman, aquarium exhibit designer, eco-tour guide, and made transatlantic crossings on a 34-ft sailboat twice. He’s won numerous awards and has created many public art installations.  Recent projects include a 6’ tall bronze eagle for The Citadel in Charleston, SC, and a 12-piece bronze sculpture installation in Marion Square in Charleston, SC.  He is a signature member of the National Sculpture Society, the American Society of Marine Artists and the Society of Animal Artists.
