Polly O'Dette

Mesa, Arizona

Born into a rural northern Arizona ranching family, Polly had ample time and close contact with earth. Her subject matter is based on observation of the natural world with an interest in small details or microenvironments. She is an avid collector and photographer of natural specimens which inspire her sculpture. She earned her Bachelor of Fine Art through Arizona State University and master’s in fine art from New Mexico State University. At ASU she was lucky to learn from master metalsmith and sculptor, David Pimentel, who encouraged her experiments in everything metal. She has studied with many amazing metalsmiths and loves learning the processes of working metal.
