Polly O'Dette

Mesa, Arizona

Born into a rural northern Arizona ranching family, Polly had ample time and close contact with the earth. Her subject matter is based on observations of the natural world, with an interest in small details and microenvironments. She is an avid collector and photographer of natural specimens, which inspire her sculpture. She earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts from Arizona State University and a Master of Fine Arts from New Mexico State University. At ASU, she was lucky to learn from master metalsmith and sculptor, David Pimentel, who encouraged her experiments in everything metal. She has since studied with many amazing metalsmiths and loves learning the processes of working metal.
