Matthew Naftzger

Matthew, born in 1972 in Ohio and raised in Colorado, is a self-taught artist who transitioned from writing to metalwork after serving in the Marine Corps. His “Royal Dystopian Tableware” series reflects his fascination with humanity’s existence and narratives intertwined with his Cold War upbringing. Primarily using materials like titanium and bronze, his work blends modern techniques with traditional craftsmanship. Since 2001, he has exhibited at numerous prestigious art festivals and galleries, earning various awards for his unique, functional pieces that invite contemplation. Now based in Pittsburgh, Matthew continues to explore the beauty and strangeness of human experience through his art.
