Lisa Gordon
Santa Fe, New Mexico
Lisa Gordon is a sculptor whose work centers on the horse as a metaphor for the human experience. Working primarily in bronze and steel, she creates dynamic forms that explore themes of strength, resilience, movement, and connection. While equine imagery anchors her practice, Gordon’s sculptures move beyond traditional representations, blending organic forms with industrial and reclaimed materials to create pieces that feel both timeless and contemporary.
Many of her works incorporate found objects—weathered steel, wagon parts, and other rustic western remnants—collected during travels and trail rides. These materials bring a sense of history and narrative to each sculpture, suggesting journeys, endurance, and the layered stories embedded in the landscape.
Gordon’s work ranges from intimate gallery pieces to larger public sculptures and has been placed in several public locations, including Benson Park in Loveland, Colorado; Norman, Oklahoma; Little Rock, Arkansas; and Tucson International Airport in Arizona.
