Jerry Cox

St. Louis native Jerry Cox earned his BFA in Sculpture from Westminster and William Woods Universities in 1978. He began his career restoring slot machines, carving life-sized “One-Arm Bandits” and iconic figures. Though he spent four decades as a master furniture maker, wood sculpture remained his true love.

Working from his 1,600-square-foot studio south of St. Louis, Jerry blends furniture-making techniques with woodturning and carving. His narrative-driven works sometimes incorporate other media or found objects, a signature style he discovered in 2003. Since committing to his practice full-time in 2023, Jerry continues to refine his pursuit of perfect form.
