Jake Balcom is a self-taught metal artist with over 25 years of experience. With an educational background in architecture and biology, his work transforms rigid geometry into flowing forms that bridge the industrial and natural worlds. Known for intricate yet clean designs, he blends traditional metalworking techniques with modern technology to create dynamic, site-specific pieces. His sculptures often explore motion, structure, and patterns found in nature. Recent installations include a large wildflower sculpture in a roundabout in Truckee, California, and a monumental gateway in Springfield, Missouri, commemorating the anniversary of Route 66. Balcom works from his studio in Kansas City, Missouri.
