On a Roll
7’ x 48”
Jack Hill
DeLand, Florida
In search of the world's funny bone was how Jack began his quilted career.
Studying, touring and movie making with Marcel Marceau molded Jack into a mime, magician, ventriloquist, puppeteer and life long clown.
A transition to building and sailing boats catalyzed into an epiphany he experienced at the sculpture studio of Randolph Johnson while cruising in the Bahamas. After sailing back to the Florida Keys Jack studied the lost wax process at a local foundry and began casting the images flooding his imagination.
A pinnacle was achieved when Benson Park adopted "On A Roll", Jack's 7 foot tall roller-skating banana, into its permanent family.
The whimsy continues to evolve while sharing the stage with Jack's award winning classical figurative works.
"Historians tell us what happened, Artists show us what could happen. "
