A search for the world's funny bone was how Jack began his quilted career. Studying, touring, and moviemaking with Marcel Marceau molded Jack into a mime, magician, ventriloquist, puppeteer, and lifelong clown. A transition to building and sailing boats catalyzed an epiphany he experienced at the sculpture studio of Randolph Johnson while cruising in the Bahamas. After sailing back to the Florida Keys, Jack studied the lost-wax process at a local foundry and began casting the images flooding his imagination.
He reached a pinnacle when Benson Sculpture Garden adopted On a Roll, his 7-foot-tall roller skating banana, into its permanent family. The whimsy continues to evolve while sharing the stage with Jack's award-winning classical figurative works. "Historians tell us what happened, artists show us what could happen."
