George Walbye

Although Colorado sculptor George Walbye has spent his entire life in the Rocky Mountain West, his sculpture moves beyond the ordinary perception of western art. A series of bronze bowls and lidded pots for which Walbye is especially noted uses elements inspired by American Indian art and ornamentation, yet retains a contemporary quality in its design. George was born in Rawlins, Wyoming, and spent his boyhood summers working on ranches near the homestead his grandfather had homesteaded at Whiskey Gap. George is one of five founding artists of the Sculpture in the Park Show, and 2026 will be his 42nd consecutive show.  For additional information, please visit www.WalbyeArtStudio.com.
