George Walbye
Loveland, Colorado
Although Colorado sculptor George Walbye is an artist who has spent his entire life in the Rocky Mountain West, his sculpture moves beyond the ordinary perception of western art. A series of bronze bowls and lidded pots for which Walbye is especially noted uses elements inspired by American Indian art and ornamentation, but there is a contemporary quality in their design. George was born in Rawlins, Wyoming, and spent boyhood summers working on ranches near the area homesteaded by his grandfather at Whiskey Gap. George is one of five founding artists of the Sculpture in the Park Show, and 2025 will be his 41st consecutive show.
