Eric Stearns

Lincoln, Nebraska

Eric was born near North Platte, Nebraska. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Doane College in Crete, Nebraska, in 2003. After graduating, he opened his first studio, Stearns Ceramics, in North Platte, where he began developing his work in ceramics.

For several years, Eric balanced teaching full-time, working in his studio, and assisting his family on their ranch. He later recommitted to his artistic practice and pursued graduate studies at Fort Hays State University, earning a Master of Fine Arts degree in 2008.

Eric returned to Doane College after completing his MFA and now serves as Professor and Chair of the Art & Design Department, while continuing to create sculptural pierced raku ceramics.
