Dennis Sohocki

With monuments commissioned worldwide & studios in Colorado & Sedona, Dennis Sohocki’s honors include New York’s National Academy of Design Award, Denver Art Museum, Southwest Art’s Sculpture of the Rockies book, & 2 permanent installations in Benson Sculpture Garden: “Endangered Grace” & “Contemplation.” He has been in Sculpture in the Park for all 42 years.

Growing up in Cleveland, he worked in factories to pay for college. After completing his Master’s, he horse-packed, hitchhiked, & bicycled throughout the West, Mexico, Central America, & Europe.

Dennis began carving while working with Athabascan people in Alaska. Later travels found him teaching & carving in Cuba & Egypt. His work is subconscious; inspired by both beauty & challenges. His sculptures attempt to capture the essence of elements of life & nature. http://sohocki.blogspot.com/.
