Dennis Sohocki

Estes Park, Colorado & Sedona, Arizona

With monuments commissioned worldwide & studios in Colorado & Sedona, Sohocki’s honors include the New York National Academy of Design Award, the Denver Art Museum, Southwest Art’s Sculpture of the Rockies book, & 2 permanent installations in the Benson Sculpture Garden: “Endangered Grace” & “Contemplation.”  He has been in Sculpture in the Park all 42 years. 

 Growing up in Cleveland, he worked in factories to pay for college.  After completing his Master’s, he horse-packed, hitchhiked, & bicycled throughout the West, Mexico, Central America, & Europe. 

 Dennis began carving while working with Athabascans in Alaska.  Later travels found him teaching & carving in Cuba & Egypt.  His work is subconscious; inspired by both beauty & challenges.  His sculptures attempt to capture the essence of elements of life & nature.
