Amanda Markel
Bozeman, Montana
Amanda Markel is a contemporary bronze sculptor whose work explores presence, wholeness, and connection through figurative form and intentional negative space. Her sculptures invite quiet dialogue, where absence carries as much meaning as form. Raised in Colorado, Markel’s bond with animals and nature began early. She started sculpting young, and by fourteen was selling work to support an orphanage in Africa. This helped to shape her belief in art as a source of connection and change. Now in Montana, she has sculpted professionally since 2020, earning national and international recognition. In 2025, her 14-foot bronze monument, Ridge Runners, was permanently installed at the Benson Sculpture Garden, marking her first large-scale public installation.
